Kuwait City
Kuwait City is the capital of Kuwait and the base of the Kuwait International Fair at Mishref, a fairground used for national and international exhibitions. Falconry-related exhibitions have been held in Kuwait in recent years.
The story of Kuwait City
Kuwait City began as a small fishing village in the early to mid 1700s. After the Bani Utub settled there in the mid eighteenth century, it grew into a trading hub and boat-building centre, helped by instability in Basra that sent merchants to Kuwait.
Kuwait became independent in June 1961 when the British protectorate ended, with Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah as Emir, and the first parliamentary elections followed in 1963. Iraqi forces invaded in August 1990, and the withdrawal was completed on 26 February 1991.
The city is now the political, cultural and economic centre of the country. The Kuwait International Fair was founded in 1971 at Mishref, with six air-conditioned exhibition halls, the largest covering 7,000 square metres, and it hosts more than 45 exhibitions a year.
Falconry in Kuwait City
The Kuwait International Fair has hosted falconry-related trade events, including the Kuwait Exhibition for Falcons, Falconry Accessories, Land and Sea Travel, whose fourth edition was listed for August 2026.
Falconry in Kuwait operates under a falcon registration framework introduced in 2021 (Resolution No. 6 of 2021), which Kuwaiti press describes as a passport system for falcons under CITES. Kuwait does not appear among the countries listed on UNESCO's multinational falconry entry.
Kuwait Times coverage of the 2024 falcon exhibition in the country reported exhibitors from more than 21 countries.
List your business on the pages of the events you attend, so buyers and partners find you before the show.
