The Saudi Press Agency reports that a young peregrine falcon, known locally as a farkh shaheen, sold for SAR 211,000 on the ninth night of the 2026 National Center for Falcons Auction. Bidding opened at SAR 100,000.
The sale
The bird was caught by nine trappers in Al-Muwailih. The price sits below the SAR 375,000 recorded on the eighth night, which remains the highest figure of the season so far, and close to the SAR 221,000 paid for a young peregrine on the fifth night.
Rules of the auction
According to SPA, the auction accepts only young migratory peregrine falcons caught within the Kingdom. Adult peregrines and saker falcons are excluded, a measure the agency says helps preserve their populations. The event runs until 30 November.
Support and broadcast
The National Center for Falcons provides trappers with accommodation and transport to the auction venue. Sessions are broadcast live on television and social media platforms.
For the trade
Buyers and breeders can read the nightly opening and closing prices as a running reference for locally trapped juvenile peregrines. The eligibility rules also make clear that only young peregrines trapped in the Kingdom appear in these sessions.
