The Saudi Press Agency reports that two juvenile peregrine falcons sold for a combined SAR 291,000 on the seventh night of the 2026 National Center for Falcons auction, which runs until 30 November.

The two sales

The first falcon, trapped in Al-Dabdabah, opened at SAR 50,000 and sold for SAR 131,000. The second, trapped in Al-Mujayrimah, opened at SAR 80,000 and sold for SAR 160,000.

Scope of the auction

The agency recalls that the auction is limited to migratory juvenile peregrines trapped in the Kingdom. Adult peregrines and saker falcons are excluded, a rule presented as support for the sustainability of both species.

Support for trappers

The center's teams across the regions receive trappers and provide them with accommodation and transport to the auction venue.

For the trade

The published opening prices and final prices give buyers and breeders a clear view of how locally trapped juvenile peregrines are valued during the season. Anyone sourcing saker falcons will need to look to other channels, since they are not offered at this auction.

Frequently asked questions: Market

Is the international falcon market a free market?

No. Trade in falcons listed under CITES requires permits before any transaction, issued by the management authorities of the countries concerned.

Are auction record prices representative of the market?

No. Record prices are one-off events. They should not be read as the current price of a bird of the same species.
