The Saudi Press Agency reports that two falcons were sold for a combined SAR 304,000 on the eleventh night of the 2026 National Center for Falcons Auction, held in Riyadh. The event is organised by the center and runs until 30 November, with strong attendance from falconry enthusiasts.

The session

The agency gives a combined total for the night and does not list individual prices or the origin of each bird. As with the previous nightly reports, the figure is best read as an aggregate.

Eligibility rules

According to SPA, the auction accepts only juvenile migratory peregrine falcons captured within Saudi Arabia. Adult peregrines and saker falcons are excluded, a measure the agency says supports their sustainability.

Services for trappers

The center keeps receiving locally captured falcons over a two-month period. Its regional teams collect the birds from trappers and arrange accommodation and transport to the auction venue. Each falcon is then offered in a live competitive auction broadcast on television channels and the center's social media accounts.

For the trade

The nightly totals continue to add to the season record for locally trapped juvenile peregrines, and the open calendar to 30 November means further sessions will follow.

Frequently asked questions: Market

Is the international falcon market a free market?

No. Trade in falcons listed under CITES requires permits before any transaction, issued by the management authorities of the countries concerned.

Are auction record prices representative of the market?

No. Record prices are one-off events. They should not be read as the current price of a bird of the same species.
